Fly On Byrd, Fly On, Skyligers, Gus Van Spyk

I took this set so long ago (8 months ago…) that there isn’t that much I can remember about it! I really shouldn’t let myself get so behind in my photos! It means I miss out on lots of photo opportunities because of the back log.

It was the first gig I’d been to upstairs in the Riverside, and it was a pretty good one. The stage space (which wasn’t a stage, just the end of the room) wasn’t quite big enough for Fly On Byrd, Fly On and Skyligers, meaning both bands had members outside of the lights. This means Jo from Skyligers is only present as a silhouette (but he has a whole bunch of other photos of him on this sight so can’t complain), but Ryon from Fly On fared a bit better and even made the the featured image. Even if it is just his beard…

Elegies, The Years Between Decades, Mind And Separation, Skyligers

Paul, formerly of the awesome Exit Strategy One has been looking after bands playing at Harrison’s 1854 recently and after I took a look at the rather awesome “Scars” by Elegies linked on their event page, I decided to head down and take some photos.

I was seriously impressed, these guys were all amazing!

Lighting was quite different from other places. There were 4 large colour changing LED lights which Paul tinkered with between sets, but due to the lack of an overhead rig, were on the floor meaning everyone was uplit. Made some of the shots quite moody, but I think I’m happy with them!
